Project Review

Project Scope: River Road: Campbell Avenue to Alvernon Way

The project scope includes improving, widening and the realignment of River Road from east of Campbell Avenue to the extension of Alvernon Way east of Dodge.  Features include two travel lanes in each direction and a middle two-way left turn lane (5 lanes total), 6’ paved shoulders on each side with graded shoulders with pedestrian facilities.  These improvements will provide safe and efficient operations for design year 2025.

Project Scope: Alvernon Way: River Road to Fort Lowell Road

The project will extend Alvernon Way from its existing intersection of Ft. Lowell Road, north and west across the Rillito River with a new bridge to connect to River Road in the vicinity of Dodge Boulevard.  On Alvernon Way from Ft. Lowell to the Rillito River, improvements include two lanes in each direction with a middle two way left turn lane, paved shoulders, and sidewalks.  On Alvernon Way from River Road to south of the Rillito River improvements include two travel lanes in each direction with a middle landscaped raised median. These improvements will provide safe and efficient operations for design year 2025.

Asphalt-Rubber Asphaltic Concrete (ARAC) which reduces roadway noise.

Drainage Improvements

The Camino Real and Finger Rock Washes as well as other smaller drainages along the project area will be significantly improved.
