Dear Craycroft Neighbors,
The Craycroft Road Improvement Project will widen Craycroft Road from approximately 1100 feet south of River Road to approximately 900 feet north of Sunrise Drive. It will become a four lane divided roadway with a center median, paved shoulders, continuous
pathways, and landscaped medians and shoulders.
The Pima County Department of Transportation (PCDOT) in conjunction with a design team lead by
Engineerring and Environmental Consultants, Inc. (EEC) is currently working through the preliminary design concepts for this project. We are also meeting monthly with the local Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to obtain their input and better understand the concerns of those directly affected by the planned roadway improvements.
The Craycroft Road Improvement Project, first started several years ago, is being revisited for compliance with new design standards and procedures recently adopted by PCDOT. These include new Environmentally Sensitive Roadway (ESR) Design Guidelines (now required for all Pima County designated scenic roads) and policies on rubberized asphalt pavement and noise mitigation requirements. All County transportation projects in the current five-year construction plan are going through the same process.
We ask for your continued patience and understanding as we work through the additional requirements of this design phase. PCDOT and our team of design professionals are committed to designing and constructing safe, functional and environmentally safe roads, and continually strive to provide designs that treat all Pima County property owners and residents in a fair and consistent manner.
Sincerely,
PIMA COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
