Utility franchises are in the process of relocating their infrastructure within the project limits.
Eagle Rock will begin mobilizing equipment, materials, and personnel in December 2009 with construction commencing shortly thereafter. A construction kick-off open house is tentatively scheduled for late December 2009.

The meeting information will be posted once the time and location are confirmed. It is anticipated that construction will be require 18-20 months to

Project Description:

A Pima County Department of Transportation Project

Dear La Cholla Neighbors,

The La Cholla Boulevard project will widen La Cholla Boulevard from Ruthrauff Road to River Road. Improvements will widen La Cholla Boulevard to a six lane divided roadway with a center median, paved shoulders, sidewalks, and landscaped medians.

In addition to increasing traffic capacity, safety will be enhanced in a number of ways. Safety features include:

• Improved sight distances
• Improved drainage
• Improved intersection geometry
• Sidewalks for pedestrians
• Median curbs for access control

The Pima County Department of Transportation (PCDOT) in conjunction with a design team lead by HDR Engineering, Inc. is developing design plans for the project. A local Community Advisory Committee (CAC) will contribute input on the Design Concept Report, Environmental Assessment and Mitigation Report, and the Public Art.

La Cholla Boulevard is considered one of the key north-south corridors in northwest Pima County and over the past few years Pima County has improved La Cholla
Boulevard from River Road to Ina Road.

PCDOT and our team of design professionals are committed to designing and constructing safe, functional, and environmentally sensitive roads that enhance life in the community.

Sincerely,

PIMA COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
Dean Papajohn, P.E. Project Manager
